Kett's Country Long Distance Trail

Project details

Kett's Country Long Distance Trail is an 18-mile route which connects Norwich to Wymondham. This project enhanced an existing route along public rights of way, and has seen new signage and furniture installed, obstacles removed, and access improvements such as gates, bridges and boardwalks. Five local, circular walks have also been created at areas of increased development: Wymondham, Wreningham, Mulbarton, Swardeston, and Cringleford. The project also involved community engagement, with members of the public given the opportunity to vote on their preferred circular routes. Kett's Country Long Distance Trail formally launched in March 2022.

The Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB) fully funded this project for a total of £85,865, providing a welcome addition to the Norfolk Trails network of routes. The project provides additional Green Infrastructure provision in areas of significant and continuing growth, where we have seen an increase in demand for access to green spaces. By spreading demand across a wider area, this project helps prevent individual locations across the county becoming overwhelmed. It also delivers on a key strategic priority for improving access to, and connectivity between, green spaces.
